Robert Lindsay wins seat of Cosford in a close-run election

12 May 2017

Robert Lindsay was feeling triumphant yet exhausted after his win at the County Council elections - but the first thing he wanted to do was to thank his army of volunteers.

"To all my leafletters and helpers in all of the 18 villages of Cosford - thank you so much for all the work you did!"

The volunteers were out in all weathers delivering leaflets and drumming up support for Robert. It obviously did the trick, as Robert won by a majority of 111 votes. Robert said:

"The count was nailbiting - I really didn't know I'd won until they told me the figures."

Robert Lindsay (G), 1630*; Philip Mutton (C), 1519; Leon Stedman (UKIP), 115; Rickaby Shearly-Sanders (L), 106; Turnout 47.8% G gain from C.
